Building in Oceanside
Oceanside has one of the more varied housing stocks in the county — older bungalows, mid-century homes, and newer construction, often within the same neighbourhood.
Age is the main variable. Older Oceanside homes tend to reveal something when the walls open: plumbing run in ways nobody would specify now, electrical that has been extended rather than replaced, framing altered by previous owners. We would rather find it and tell you the same day than tile over it.
Coastal exposure applies across much of the city. Salt air is hard on metal, and exterior work — siding, stucco, trim, decks and covers — lasts or fails on detailing at transitions rather than on the material chosen.
The projects we see most here are kitchens and bathrooms in homes that have never been properly updated, where the layout has not worked for decades and refinishing around it would waste the opportunity.
